The Shop Shelf
Things I actually use.
No hauls, no unboxings, no forty-seven versions of the same trowel. This is the short list of what earns its place in my garden, my shed, and my kitchen. If it's here, I'd buy it again.
Some of these are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. It helps keep the free guides free. I only list things I use myself.

The Growing Shelf
For growing more food in less space, with less watering and less bending over.
Five tiers of growing space in about two square feet. Strawberries, herbs, and greens all go up instead of out, which is easier on your back and harder for the chipmunks.
Shop →Unglazed clay pots you bury in the bed and fill with water. The soil pulls moisture through the clay only as it dries out, so roots drink on their own schedule and you water a lot less.
Shop →A garden you can tend standing up. If kneeling and bending are what keep you out of the garden, raise the garden instead of pushing through it.
Shop →Plants want to live. A packet of seeds is the cheapest proof. Grow what you like to eat, start more than you need, and give the extras away.
Shop →I keep my fruit trees small with backyard orchard culture: more variety in less space, and fruit you can pick without a ladder. A full-size tree makes way more fruit than you need.
Shop →The lowest-effort harvest I know of. No sun, no soil, no zone. Mist it, wait, and watch something grow on your counter faster than seems reasonable.

The Tool Drawer
Tools that make the hard parts easier. Some days that matters more than others.
The pruners you buy once. Clean cuts heal faster, which matters when you're pruning fruit trees every summer, and every part is replaceable so they never end up in a landfill.
Shop →If I had a penny for every near-meltdown over a tangled hose, I'd have a lot of pennies. This made watering peaceful again, which is a strange thing to say about a hose reel, and yet.
Shop →Pulling the top off a weed is just a haircut. This gets under the root so it doesn't come back next week looking smug.
Shop →Padded for kneeling, flip it over to sit, and the handles help you get back up. Gardening should not require a recovery day.

The Pantry
For the weeks when the garden is producing and I am not.
Twenty years vegetarian and I still have nights when cooking is not happening. Thistle covers those nights with plant-forward meals that taste like someone cared.
